Securing Your Home in a Hurricane Evacuation

Hurricane season is coming up, and with hurricane season comes the potential for evacuation. Every year hundreds, if not thousands, of citizens are evacuated due to the threat of potentially deadly hurricanes destroying their homes. This leaves whole communities susceptible to vandals and burglars who choose not to evacuate for that very reason. Do not allow yourself to be an easy target for these vandals. There are a few steps you can take in securing your home while you are away, and make it harder on the thieves who take advantage of evacuation efforts.

Home Invasion Security

It is estimated by the U.S. Department of Justice that 1 of every 5 homes in the U.S. will experience either a break-in, fire or carbon monoxide poisoning. Safety measures are lawfully dictated on the latter two but currently there are no laws in place to delegate home security systems. Although virtually every home in the U.S. has a fire alarm, there are far less homes with adequate home invasion security systems in place.
