When it comes to protecting your family a home security system should always be considered. With so many choices you may be asking yourself why an ADT security system is the right choice for you and your home.

ADT has been a reliable name in home security for over 100 years. This resume by itself can assure you that the nationwide monitoring centers, or central stations if you will, meet and exceed all government laws required to secure fail safe 24 hour monitoring. ADT’s 24 hour monitoring includes medical emergency, fire, burglary, and ambush hostage silent alarms.

Recently there has been post’s on Google, Yahoo and Bing that indicates ADT purchase of Brinks/Broadview. If this is true, then no one company has survived longer than ADT security services has. This is a company is owned by TYCO and now has cornered the market place in the security system business.

Not all burglar alarm companies are created equal. When an emergency occurs you need to be able to rely on America’s choice at any hour of the day. With an ADT monitored home security system, you can be rest assured that someone is always on duty watching over your loved ones 24 hours a day, nights, weekends, and holidays. ADT monitors from 5 central stations spread out nationwide to guarantee a true level of confidence.

Most security consultants undergo vigoris training in ensuring accuracy when recommending an ADT security system to meet the needs of the homeowner. Packages start out at $99 and monthly monitoring goes for about $1 a day. As an ADT subscriber, you are entitled to up to 20% off your homeowners insurance, a money-back customer satisfaction guarantee, theft protection guarantee, and mover’s relocation certificate. ADT also won a consumer digest best buy award for it’s outstanding critical conditions for monitoring for fire and carbon monoxide.

For anyone serious about protecting thier home, an ADT security consultant can do a free in home review to find a system is the right fit for your needs and budget. From carbon monoxide detector monitoring, flood protection to monitoring for burglars, ADT offers a wide variety of alarm equipment that will fully protect your home.

If we look at the history of burglar alarm systems , we will find a gradual progress from a simplistic one circuit system to systems which are multi-zone, integrated and packed with features. It may be possible that your system is not as antiquated as the systems that were first introduced into our society, yet far from the ones that we find today.

When I started as an apprentice installer in the home burglar alarm industry more than twenty five years ago the systems that I learned to install were made with an extremely simple arrangement of lights and relays, yet were very difficult to install and service. Installations were done by running one or at the most two pairs of wires throughout the house and along the attic and wherever a window or door was present, a loop would be brought down to install a door or window sensor. This procedure was all that was necessary at the time because the only control panels that existed were single zone panels. The work was very tedious and most installations would take two men approximately one week to complete. The enormous amount of time to install the job was due to the fact that the only way at that time that anyone would protect any glass door or window was using what was referred to as window foil. Window foil was an aluminum tape that had to be attached to each and every piece of glass and a perfect square would be made with the tape around the glass to be used as the actual protection for the glass. The tape would serve as a piece of wire which would complete the circuit back to the zone. If anyone would break the glass from outside the home while the burglar alarm system was armed the tape on the glass would in turn break and cause the circuit or zone to open and that in turn would activate a relay which would trigger a siren to sound for an indefinite amount of time. The problem with installing this foil is that if it was a rainy or cold day outside the tape would not adhere to the glass. Also, the tape would very easily break if you were not careful and if that happened it would be necessary for you to start all over again. All of this was the cause of excessively long installation duration as well as difficult service issues.

For the past ten years or so we have seen the disappearing of this method of protecting homes and gone to smarter and installer friendly systems. The use of foil on windows is non existent and has been replaced with audio frequency discriminators. These sensors are audio sensors that pick up the sound and vibration that breaking glass makes and only one per room is necessary. Systems now have multiple zones and make it much easier to perform a service call in case of a faulty zone. Wireless sensors have practically made it unnecessary to have to run wiring to doors and windows for protection, Motion sensors are made today with the ability to be used in your home even if you have pets that weigh as much as 100 pounds. Control panels are made with the ability to be integrated with lighting control or video. Keypads which control the operation of your burglar alarm system are now even available in color touchscreen models.

Wherever you fall into this category it would be wise to have your system upgraded at least every ten years. A system that is more than ten years old is a problem waiting to happen and should be upgraded to a more recent model.

When is it time to consider a wireless home security system? If your fromt door is locked is your home really protected? If there is no security system nine times out of ten, the answer will always be no. If you are considering adding an investment to your home security but fear the monthly investment associated with it, then a wireless ADT security system will provide you with the most minimal cost.

Many alarm companies that offer a wireless security systems admit that it can be “DIY installation”. This savings will allow you to save on installation costs and can go towards getting extra remote controls or exterior sirens or even glassbreak detectors.. For example the Lynx Honeywell Wireless Home Security System is an easy to install unit that only needs a phone line in order to get up and running within minutes. It comes with 5 wireless alarm sensors and a pet immune motion detector. You need not worry about pets triggering the alarm. The system is completly universal in the sense that it can be tied into a security camera or survellance camera system, that can be monitored from any location even from an I-Phone.

One key benefit of wireless security systems is that it can be a hybrid system, meaning that additional hardware zones can be added to your home security system and you can easily be intergrated to any of Honeywell/Ademco products. The benefit to all the wonderful things that wireless home alarms offer is that it can be installed easily and can reduce the cost of a home alarm installer’s fee.

Wireless remote controls or keyfobs can be added to these systems allowing ease of arming and disarming without rinnung to your honeywell keypad . You can also add glassbreak sensors that activate the moment the sound of glass breaking occurs. Other additions to your wireless security system can include smoke detectors and/or heat temperature sensors. Medical panic buttons can be integrated to your overall security allowing peace of mind for homeowners who live with or suffer from medical conditions.

Ultimately home security systems have saved lives before and will continue to save lives while protecting your home and your family with a minimal investment. The fact that it is an ADT monitored security system insures pinpoint accuracy as to where the intrusion occured and at the same time dispatch the authorities and the homeowner all at once.

After installing your monitored security system contact your home insurance provider to recieve up 20% off your yearly rate. If insurance companies see the value for thier customers to own a monitored home security system then isn’t it time that you picked up the phone and contact your Adt dealer in Miami FL today.

In light of this history making transaction it is easy to see that ADT security is by far the largest and most respected name in home security.

In recent news we were made aware of the buyout of Broadview Security, formerly known as Brinks Home Security, by Tyco International who is the parent company of ADT Security. The purchase of Broadview Security was for a total of almost two billion dollars, which makes it the largest acquisition of any security system company in history. In light of this history making transaction it is easy to see that ADT security is by far the largest and most respected name in home security. Here in South Florida it does not take much investigation to confirm this, all you would have to do is drive down any road in any neighborhood and you would get a firsthand view of the immense impact that ADTs Authorized Dealer Program has had by noticing how every other house has in front of it an ADT yard sign. The only way that ADT has been able to saturate the home security market all over the United States is with the help of their ADT Authorized dealers.

What makes the ADT Authorized Dealer Program unique from any other dealer program out there is the fact that ADT not only monitors your system through their link of UL approved central stations, but services your account with their own paid employees. Most all other dealers who have an authorized dealer program uses sub contractors to repair your home security alarm system in the event of a system malfunction. What this means for you is that there will always be a middle person to have to deal with who is not a direct employee of the company. In the end if you do not receive excellent service from the sub contractor they send out there is not much they can do except send someone else out. In essence there is no real accountability enforced when subcontractors are being used. On the other hand ADT uses their own in house employees to service your account in the event of a malfunction and if you are not satisfied with the service received the person who serviced your home alarm system has a direct supervisor who you can contact and who will take action against the employee who did not provide you with excellent service. With ADT there is a real sense of accountability which is not found in any other home security provider.

One of the other main and possibly the most important benefit to using an ADT Authorized Dealer to sell and install your home security system is that the value you will receive for your money will be far greater than if you bought your home security system directly from ADT . It is the ADT authorized dealers that have put ADT on the map in regards to the incredible volume of systems they have been able to install and monitor. The reason for this is that because there are multiple ADT authorized dealers competing for your business it allows you as a homeowner to have them compete for your business and in turn give you the best price for the equipment you are purchasing. This then means that you can negotiate for the best possible price and still have ADT as your home security provider.

In conclusion it is safe to say that if you are looking to purchase an ADT home security system, the best way to go about doing that is by having several ADT authorized dealers compete for your business. You will still be an ADT customer yet still receive a far greater price for your system.

Too often homeowners take their peace of mind and sense of security for granted. The FBI has reported a minor percentage drop in reported home robberies during normal economic time, now with the economy declining the rate for home burglaries has increased significantly. Even living in a society that is more alert and aware due to terrorism, we are far from those days of being worry free from home break ins. Family safety is priceless, and many homeowners are misinformed when it pertains to ensuring their home and family. It is note worthy to pay attention to the following 5 common errors homeowners make when it comes to establishing a safe and secure home.

One mistake that is a constant problem is really taking one’s home security for granted. Now a days, no one is immune to the potential of a home robbery. All areas, urban or suburban, are a target for crime, and a matter of fact that crime rate is increasing. There is no cause for panic, but educate yourself in prevention. Don’t be a lazy and uninformed homeowner; take the proper steps to insure and protect your home. These steps are basic and elementary, as well as simple. The most cost effective choice in protecting your home is with a home security system with 24 hour monitoring . ADT is the largest and nationally renowned choice, and their rates are very reasonable.

Many homeowners make the great mistake of leaving their doors and windows unlocked. While we may feel that we know our neighborhoods well or that we have lived in an area for all our lives. Unfortunately this mentality puts at risk the entire family. Those days are long gone and our families must be protected at all costs. Locking your doors and windows regardless is the first line of defense for securing your home. Unlocked doors and windows are how many home burglaries occur. A home invader will take advantage of any opportunity, and you will be the one at fault for not securing your family properly. Most burglars study the neighborhood, they note when someone is home or not. Many times a burglar may even walks to the door and knocks to make sure no one is home.

A third common mistake homeowners make is that they leave a key underneath a door mat or in a unsecured area. This is a very predictable move that many homeowners do, burglars are so well aware of it and they will attempt to locate where any spare keys may have been hidden. The main reason for spare keys is for convenience but be prepared for the consequence that may result from a burglary. A wiser choice would be to leave the spare key with a trusted family member or neighbor. Either way, if a home security system monitored by ADT would be the best choice in any event. If a burglar found your keys he/she would also need to know your access codes in order to deactivate the home alarm.

A common mistake is the homeowner’s trees and bushes. Trees and plants are a big part of a homeowners look and feel to the home, but this is also a potential risk to be targeted for a home invasion. Be aware of potential weaknesses in your home due to these big and lush plants, because a burglar can use them for hiding and spying your home. It is always overlooked but, appearance of your home does not have to put you at risk for a burglary. Try to keep your home well lighted and clear of line of sight for your neighbors to see your property.

The final common mistake is to not have installed an ADT monitored home security system. Local ADT dealers usually have the best cost on service and installation. The benefits and peace of mind that an ADT alarm brings is priceless. Don’t become a statistic and take your family’s safety seriously.

We are approaching the holiday season. During the holiday season, unoccupied homes filled with new or unopened gifts are inviting targets for thieves. A poll revealed that 60 percent of homeowners going away on vacation worry that their home will be broken into while they are away. There are several points to consider before leaving home for a week or two during the holiday season, or even for just an extended weekend. The first is to make a friend, neighbor or family member aware of your plans and have them visit the house several times during your vacation. They should remove newspapers, mail, or packages from sight and check the entire property. Unclaimed mail is a major indicator to many burglars that a family is away for the holidays.

It is also important that you make sure all of the doors and windows, including the garage door, are closed and locked. Surprisingly many people will go on vacation and leave their garage doors open as they leave. Although one may feel that there id not anything of concern or value in their garage, though that is not always the case, a common way for burglars to enter homes illegally is through the sub standard door traditionally hung between the home and the garage. If closing the garage door is not a frequent habit of a household, then the inner, connecting door should be replaced with a strong reinforced steel door that locks with a high quality deadbolt.

You may also want to consider installing impact resistant doors and windows in your home. Leaving in South Florida, storms are commonplace, and you should not have to worry about your homes safety while away, enjoying a vacation. In light of this, make sure to place any valuable or vulnerable items inside your home where they will be safe while you are away.

Get an automatic timer for your lights. This is a classic method of creating the appearance of occupancy, and with the advent of “smart timers” that will turn lights and equipment on at random times this can be a great trick and burglary prevention method.

Something that many homeowners do not consider while away is to turn the answering machine volume down. Although the message should never clearly state that residents are not at home or will not return until a certain date, nor should a potential intruder be able to hear any of the incoming messages. Whoever is calling your house and leaving a message may know you are away and include something in the message to indicate this. A burglar who may be spying out your home may hear this and think he’s reached his golden opportunity.

The holidays are also a good time to update or create your home inventory. Take photos or make videos of items, and list descriptions and serial numbers. If your home is burglarized, having a detailed inventory can help identify stolen items and make insurance claims easier to file.

Finally, considering installing a home security system. For year round protection there really is nothing to compare with a monitored home security system, such as ADT. A home security installer will be able to indicate areas of weakness in a home’s security and make the appropriate recommendations to effectively eliminate them. And to give homeowners even greater peace of mind, you may be contacted on your cell phone in case of an emergency by the ADT monitoring center.

Here are some additional holiday tips for home safety and security before going on vacation:

•	Don’t display gifts where they can be seen from outside.
•	Keep bushes and trees near your house well trimmed.Thick, tall shrubbery provides cover for a burglar and lets him work undetected.
•	Keep the area around your house well lit. Exterior lights are important, especially near doors or in the rear of the house, where thieves do most of their work.
•	Organize a Neighborhood Watch program. Neighbors working together make one of the best crime-fighting teams around.
•	Never leave a house key in such obvious places as a mailbox or under a doormat. Put your house and car keys on separate key rings, and do not put identification tags on keys.

The state of Florida is ranked as the nations 6th leadingstate in identity theft victimizations. Miami is the state’s top city for identity theft. In 2007, there were 2,238 victims of identity theft in the city of Miami. There are millions of Americans who have their identity stolen every year. Perhaps you know one of these people or have had your identity stolen. When someone uses your information as their own identity, whether it be a Social Security number, your name or a credit card that has not obtained your permission they have committed a crime.

Our nation’s current financial and economic state does not help in the fight against identity theft, as fraud is a major cause of the recession. Fraud is a growing concern in our nation today as families find their lives immobilized as their bank accounts are frozen or depleted from identity thieves. Small credit card purchases can be easy to resolve quickly but there are some victims that are not so fortunate. It may take months to repair credit reports and bank accounts while costing you hundreds of dollars.

It is important for you to be aware of some of the few methods that thieves use to obtain your important information and assume your identity. By knowing these methods you are minimizing the potential that you will become a victim. A very common way for thieves to assume your identity is by rummaging through trash for bills and papers with personal information. A common security measure is to purchase a good shredder to shred all documents with identifying information prior to throwing them away. In addition, you may want to install a monitored home security system. In the case of a home invasion, if a thief steals your personal information, losses and expenses may be exponentially multiplied. Call an ADT specialist today to ensure your home from a break-in.

Identity thieves may also attempt to get you to give them your personal information through phone calls, emails, or online pop-up messages. They may pretend to be calling from a company, claiming they have not received your payment, and ask for your check number, checking account, or credit card number to verify. It seems obvious, but many have fallen prey to these schemes. They can also contact companies acting as if they were you with the intention of obtaining information or purchasing goods on your credit.

You must be on the alert for the latest devices, which affect the security of our identity. For example, there are storage devices, which look similar to a credit card processing device in which you slide your card. They are often stacked on top of standard card swipes so that they appear to be commonplace. This is also known as skimming. The thieves steal your credit card information directly from your card. Luckily there is a line of defense that can minimize the potential for identity theft. Several security and credit report companies are providing identity theft protection to consumers. Through such programs, consumers can receive benefits such as identity theft insurance and alerts when there is unusual activity on their credit reports.

Protect your family, their future, your home and your future by taking these steps to minimize the chances of become another South Florida victim.

No one likes to be deceived. A common misconception can influence decisions in a very negative way. Some of the most commonly held are about home security systems, such as they are quite easily debunked and should serve as good cause to reconsider installing one if you haven’t already, which is not so. Here are clarifications to some of the most common of these home security misconceptions.

It’s commonly believed that most “good” thieves, if there is such a thing, can easily defeat most burglar alarms. This myth, and the means by which people generally believe that thieves accomplish such feats of stealth, are largely the creation of very creative but terribly misinformed screenwriters.

Another very common misconception is that cutting some mythical wire in which, at least according to filmmakers, can disarm an alarm. This is simply untrue. Modern alarm systems use a combination of wired and wireless technologies. More importantly, most alarms will regard any loss of connectivity as a reason to, well, be alarmed. Snipping wires on modern alarms won’t get you into the house, but it well inform the authorities.

Motion detectors can easily be defeated with some graceful and slow movement, right? Just look at Oceans 12, Mission Impossible, or Entrapment… again not reality! This is all wrong. Motion detectors are incredibly sensitive. In fact, allowances often have to be made for the most mundane and harmless movement in a room, such as pets wandering about. The only time they don’t detect motion is when you remain perfectly still, something a thief will not do while inside your home.

There’s another magnificent misconception that a resourceful thief can record the tones emitted by some alarm pads, connect their recording device into the system and play back the recording and that somehow, this will trick the alarm. Before this was to happen, this would require the burglar to open the door, the alarm panel and hard wiring in an electronic device before the alarm goes off. In any real-life situation, this is just not going to happen. Additionally, it would require tampering with the alarm in a way that would likely trigger it. Finally, alarm panels are far more sophisticated devices than this, and this is really something that will only work, once again, in the movies.

With older window alarms, they were vulnerable to defeat by skillful interference with the electrical circuit that indicated the window being opened. Even in the most dated models, however, this would require incredible speed and skill. Modern alarms detect window breakage, the frame being opened and motion inside the home. Even if it were possible to disable a modern device in the same way as was possible in the past, it would only defeat one security measure and modern alarms represent a collection of several different measures. Defeating one of the devices used would likely be too large a task for any thief, must less defeating each and every one of their number.

Hopefully clarifying all of this misinformation will only encourage installing a home security system. ADT is your best option. Call an ADT specialist today to receive more information on all of the available plans, packages, equipment, and to answer any further questions or doubts you may have about home security systems.

Not only is your home one of the largest investments which you will make in your life (for most people it is the largest investment); it is more than just valuable property. It is your place of rest and refuge, where your family and friends can feel secure and build memories. This is worth protecting at any cost. However, unfortunately, there are many homes in the United States that are not places of rest and refuges, or there is a false sense of security and protection in the home. Taking the necessary measures to make sure your home is safe and secure is the only method by which you can ensure that your family is truly protected. How do you protect your home? How do you ensure that your home is as secure as possible?

The best choice you can make is to invest in a monitored home security system. ADT is your best choice. It is the nation’s top home security company and has the years of experience and the testimonials to prove it. ADT offers the best 24/7 monitoring in the country. In the event of an emergency, the monitoring center will dispatch the police, fire or medical services to your home. This is the fasted and safest route if such an emergency were to take place.

In addition to your ADT monitored system, there are additional steps that you can take to ensure that your home is safe and secure. In 2008, there were 3,320 fire related-deaths in the United States. Home fires are the number one cause of such deaths. Installing an ADT monitored smoke detector can prevent a casualty. Not only will the smoke alarm be triggered, but also the monitoring center will be contacted and proceed to further emergencies contacts if necessary.

As a member of a community, an excellent way to help ensure the protection of your home and those of your neighbors is to create a Neighborhood Watch. No thief would like to enter into a community that is dedicated to protecting each other. A Neighborhood Watch can provide ongoing protection against threats across multiple areas of risk for everyone in your community. Not only are you ensuring safety in your area, but there will be a greater sense of community and unity, not only in your neighborhood, but in your home as well. Neighborhood Watches are simple and easy to get started and most neighbors will join in on the efforts.

Another helpful tip is to always lock all of your doors and windows. Also, do not leave spare keys underneath doormats or flowerpots; these are targets for burglars, and you will regret placing your spare key there when an incident occurs in your home. It is a better idea to leave one with a trusted neighbor or relative. There are many different options and steps that you can take to help increase your safety and security. Make a plan that will best suit your family and home’s needs.

A monitored home security system is your best home safety option. Not only will you be able to sleep peacefully at night, knowing your home is safe from thieves and burglars, but at any time of the day because you are protected seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. However, what other home safety needs are covered by your monitored home security system? What about fire, medical, or carbon monoxide emergencies in your home?

With ADT, America’s number one home security company, you can also rest assured that these home safety needs are being met. With ADT, your family will be notified and helped in the case of multiple emergencies. Such is the case of Mike Edwards, who is an ADT customer; his story is reported on ADT’s website. One day, Mike Edwards fell asleep while he was preparing dinner. The heat sensor was activated, alerting the fire department. An ADT representative called Mike’s wife at work. Since the door was dead bolted, firefighters had to break down the door. They found Mike on the floor, with no pulse. Thankfully, Mike was revived and brought back to life. Mike had installed his ADT home security system just four months prior to the fire incident.

Everyone wants to think that a devastating fire can never happen to him or her. According to the National Fire Protection Association, in 2008 alone, there were 1,451,500 fires in the United States. Of those 3,320 died and 16,705 were injured, and there was an estimated total of 15.5 million dollars indirect dollar loss. The U.S. Fire Administration stated in 2006 that the state of Florida has an 8.9 percent rate of fire deaths. Prevent yourself from becoming another victim by installing an ADT monitored smoke detector in your home. The following are benefits of installing a monitored smoke detector:

• Your family is alerted with a loud noise when smoke is detected in your home. This is great if you are sleeping or outside of the house.

• If you are away, the alarm will call for help to your home immediately.

• Some alarms can alert you on your cell phone if your home catches fire.

ADT alarm systems offer carbon monoxide detection. Carbon monoxide is an odorless, colorless gas that can kill you in minutes. Every year, 200 people are killed in the United States by carbon monoxide poisoning. In 2006, there were 27 carbon monoxide related deaths in Florida that were unintentional and non-fire related, down from the 46 in 2005. An ADT carbon monoxide detector can alert you when there is a deadly amount of the gas in your home. This can save you and your family’s lives.

ADT also offers flood detectors. Living in South Florida, where there are multiple storms, not to mention hurricanes, this is something you will want to consider adding on to the standard installation. You will be warned of rising levels of water in your home.

Another option ADT offers for those with ill or elderly people in their home, is a medical alert system. With the touch of a button, 911 will be called in case of an emergency. The monitoring device can be worn as a pendant or on the wrist.

It is of great comfort to know that ADT offers these other options for your home security needs. While it is important to protect your valuable possessions, people, our most valuable treasures in life, are worth the extra protection. Call an ADT specialist today to have a home security system installed in your home.
